Problem:
Small and shabby master bath in Montclair, NJ. Clients need a refuge from their
hectic pace and demanding schedules.
Solution:
"A clever floor plan overcomes cramped conditions." "...Stephens
incorporated a linen closet and part of a bedroom closet to gain
about 16 square feet, making room for the homeowners' main requests:
a steam shower and a jetted tub. The steam shower's angular shape
left some odd bits of space that Stephens was not about to let go to
waste. She installed a tall, skinny linen closet to the right of the
shower. To the left, next to the pedestal sink, was a scrap of space
too narrow for a cabinet. So Stephens transformed it into a niche
fitted with glass shelves for toiletries. The glass mosaics make a
strong yet soothing statement. The clients' desire for serenity
dictated the color palette."
