Interior Design Internships

Students who intern with me at Tracey Stephens Interior Design, Inc say that their fellow students interning at a big firm get stuck filing in the sample library. Not here! My interns are involved in all aspects of my projects and business. For example, interns have the opportunity to:

• provide creative input on design
• create CAD drawings
• attend meetings with clients and contractors
• go to job sites during demolition, construction and installation
• assist with product selection, order processing and follow up
• learn about eco-friendly processes & materials
• meet with reps from my accounts (cabinets, fabric, tile, flooring, etc) to learn about the latest new products & materials
• attend showroom events, CEUs and webinars
• learn design terminology
• get practical on-the-job, on-the-spot, as-they-arise mini tutorials on design & construction
• learn about kitchen & bath planning guidelines
• observe and experience client, trade & supplier relations
• learn about tile design and how to calculate quantities
• visit the Design and Decoration building in NYC – 18 floors of showrooms
• get an inside look at how a small design firm operates
• assist with PR efforts such as monthly e-newsletter & submitting work for publication and design competitions

You will also help me with the less glamorous aspects of design such as pick ups and deliveries, and errands like bank deposits and post office mailings.
