Problem:
This large and dated Montclair, NJ kitchen had no eating area, wasted space and didn't fit the lifestyle of this active family of five.

Solution:
Thoughtful space planning maximized function and improved flow. An awkwardly placed powder room was relocated, a wall eliminated and a doorway was widened. This allowed for both a breakfast bar and a table and chairs by the enlarged window overlooking the back yard. The existing porch was converted into a mud room with cubbies for each family member and plenty of space for sports equipment. A custom docking station corrals and hides chargers, cell phones, iPods, glasses, keys and office supplies. Three new windows above the sink maximize the light and view. Radiant floor heat under slate tile provides state of the art warmth.
