Problem:

Young couple with small budget wants a great dining room for family dinners and entertaining.

Solution:

Paint! The whimsical cobalt blue and gold sun border was the inspiration for this warm and fun dining room. When the original plan to wallpaper the ceiling with a companion star pattern proved too expensive, the ceiling was painted the same cobalt blue. Real Beidermeier was also not in the spending plan, so the existing table got a painted faux look. Dining chairs from the wife's parents' first dining set were painted black. The husband's Scandinavian style tall clock also got the paint treatment to bring it into the mix.

As seen in numerous publications including Woman's Day Walls and Windows and Color in the American Home (Creative Homeowner Press).
