The client described her master bathroom as "1980s dated and ugly". The toilet was positioned on front of the window in the middle of the room. Her wish list included a relaxing soaking tub which the existing tub definitely was not.
A new layout positioned the tub in front of the window and, on the opposite wall, the toilet and 8-drawer vanity with recessed medicine cabinet above. The shower remained in the existing location but the soffit above and sliding door was removed. The full height side wall was replaced by half height tile with frameless glass above to provide a more open and spacious showering experience.
In addition to changes in the layout, the look and feel was upgraded to class elegance. The grey marble floor, white 3x6 subway tile, pretty clawfoot tub with wall mount “telephone” style handshower, traditional bun foot vanity, pale blue wall color and display shelf with blue and white Chinese porcelain all contribute to a calm and relaxing master bathroom. Other luxurious elements include a heated towel rack and radiant floor heat.
This bathroom was part of a larger project which included the lower level guest bathroom.
