Classic Carrara marble bath in Montclair
This growing Montclair NJ family shared one bath. The husband and wife had no closet in their bedroom.
Two unused side rooms (possibly former sleeping porches) adjacent to the master bedroom were transformed into an additional bathroom and walk-in closet to create a master suite. The wish list included steam shower, large soaking tub, his and hers sinks, vanity with make-up table, linen closet and toilet with some privacy ~ all to be presented in an open and airy classic style. White 3x6 subway tile anchored by black base tile and black chair-rail are a classic combination paired with a traditional basketweave pattern floor in Carrara with a black dot. The Carrara marble is continued on the countertops, tub deck, and in the shower - the 3x6 wall tile, the herringbone pattern on the floor and the seat for relaxing with a steam. The dark stained inset door cabinetry works well with the white tile and pale blue walls. Additional traditional elements include the custom wainscot panel whirlpool access in front of the tub, oval tilting mirrors, and the polished chrome vintage style faucets, wall sconces and cabinet hardware.
